Overview
Design
Vivo always focuses on their smartphone’s updated design. Vivo Y29 will be no different. The front sides will be glass, but the back and side frame will be plastic.
Display
A 6.56-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel will be used to display this mobile phone. This panel has a v-shape notch cutout for the selfie camera in the top center. This screen will support 90Hz high refresh rate. In consuming HDR content, this panel will hit up to 1300 nits of peak brightness. Thirteen hundred nits of peak brightness is decent. The panel will be bright up to 850 nits, which is decent for harsh outdoor sunlight. But this panel will have no protection.
Camera
The Vivo Y29 will come with dual rear cameras and one front camera. A 50MP rear main camera, a 2MP macro camera, and an 8MP front camera. The two-megapixel macro camera is useless. An ultrawide camera can capture good macro photos too, but this phone will have no ultrawide camera. Nowadays, almost all youth love to take photos in tight focal length portrait mode. A telephoto camera is very useful when clicking DSLR-like portrait photos. But this phone will have no telephoto camera. The 50MP main camera will capture decent photos and videos in 1080p 30fps without any stabilization. The 8MP front camera will also capture decent photos and videos at 1080p 30fps. In 2024, a phone without 4K video recording is a disappointment.
Performance
Android 14 and Funtouch OS 14 will run on the operating system. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 will be used as the chipset. It is an Octa-core chip based on 4-nanometer fabrication. The 8 cores are divided into 2-core 2.2GHz cortex A78 and another 6-core 2.0GHz cortex A55. The Adreno 713 will be used as the GPU for this chip. It is a decent chip. This chip can hit more than 4.2 Laks Antutu scores, which is a decent Antutu score.
Sound System
It will have a single speaker as the loudspeaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Battery
This mobile phone will be powered by a 5000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. This battery supports up to 18W wired, and reverse wired charging. With an 18-watt charger, this phone will fully charge in less than 2 hours.
